Synchlora irregularia (Barnes & McDunnough, 1918). [7062]

Synchlora iregularia, collected Jalisco, Mexico, 29 December 2005.
In size and wing markings, this species most closely resembles Synchlora herbaria. These two species can be most reliably distinguished by dissection of male gentialia, which Ferguson figures in his 1985 MONA fascicle. Like Synchlora gerularia, Synchlora irregularia is reported in Ferguson to have been taken only in a few Texas counties in the US.

Synchlora irregularia, collected Mercedes, Hidalgo Co., TX, 13 Dec 1958. Det DC Ferguson. Collection of the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH).
