Nemoria pistacearia (Packard, 1876). [7027]

Nemoria pistacearia, collection of Carnegie Museum of Natural History (CMNH). Specimen collected  28-May-1911, San Diego Co, CA. Nemoria pistacearia, collection of Rutgers University.
Known from the Pacific coast counties of California, Nemoria pistacearia is a distinctive west coast species. The bright green wings are broadly striated with white. The wings often lack distinct am and pm lines. When present, the pm line may be weak and broken, and the am line lacking. The wing fringes are cream to pinkish and the abdomen is green and unmarked on the dorsal surface. The species name is frequently misspelled, in part, perhaps, because of its similarity in pronunciation to that of Hethemia pistasciaria, another North American Geometrine.
