Nemoria latirosaria (Pearsall, 1906). [7019]

Nemoria latirosaria, collection of National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian. Specimen collected  21-June-1935, White Mtns, AZ by John Sperry.

An uncommon moth known from a limited geographic range from Utah to Arizona, Nemoria latirosaria is distinctive in the extensive pink markings on the costa and abdomen. In the male genitalic structures figured in Ferguson (1985) Nemoria latirosaria appears to be related to N arizonaria and N unitaria. It is interesting to note that spring forms of Nemoria arizonaria also can show some rose to red coloring on the costa, but never as extensive as the development of this coloration on specimens of N latirosaria. The larval stages of Nemoria latirosaria are undescribed.

Nemoria latirosaria, close up view of rose pink surfaces of forewing costa and thorax. Note pink coloration extending along dorsal surface of abdomen in photo above.
