Nemoria elfa is a small species, similar in size to Synchlora aerata. It has been found from the Carolinas to Florida and west to Texas. It has been reared on sweetgum leaves (Liquidambar styraciflua). Ferguson documented cool season forms that show varying degrees of brown coloration on the wings.

N. elfa has an unmarked green abdomen and noticeably wavy pm lines on forewing and hindwing. The specimen above was reared by M. Canfield from larva collected near Charleston, South Carolina The male specimen below was collected in the Pocomoke River State Park, Snow Hill Maryland on 23 May 206..
