The southeastern subspecies of bifilata has a very distinctive white stripe on the dorsal surface of the abdomen. Note presence of red terminal line similar to N. bistriaria and N. lixaria,  but less obvious checkering of wing fringe. The abdominal stripe distinguishes it from the aforementioned two species.  White postmedial lines on wings are thinner, fainter and noticeably less pronounced than those of N. bistriaria.
