Philosophy:
The FCA Masters Swim Team is an organized, year-round, swimming/fitness program designed to provide coach-supervised training opportunities for adults (ages 19 & up). Our goal is to help all members improve their swimming by working on endurance, fitness, and technique while offering a challenging, stimulating, and enjoyable team experience. Although we welcome swimmers of varying ages and skill levels, from recreational level athletes, to tri-athletes, to advanced competitive swimmers, basic swim skills are required in order to participate.
The Friends' Central Aquatics Masters program is a member of United States Masters Swimming and the Delaware Valley Local Masters Swimming Committee.
Location:
The FCA Masters Swim Team practices at Friends' Central School (Upper School Campus) located at 1101 City Avenue, Wynnewood, PA, 19096. The swimming pool is located in the Shimada Athletic Center.
Practice:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 5:30-6:30 AM
The Shimada Gymnasium doors will open @ 5:00AM. Practices will start promptly, and all Masters athletes should be out of the locker room by 7:30. Please plan accordingly.
Meets:
Participation in meets is voluntary. FCA understands that at this level the desire for competition varies from athlete to athlete. A meet schedule will be posted at the beginning of each season on the website for those who might be interested.
Fees:
Fall/Winter (9/9-3/18): Community $500; FCS/FCA Parent: $450
Spring/Summer (4/4-7/29): Community $400; FCS/FCA Parent $350
Year (9/8-7/29): Community $750; FCS/FCA Parent $700
Additional Fees:
Initiation (one time only): $50USMS Membership (yearly): $35
Equipment Fee (seasonal): $25 S/S or F/W / $50 for year
Swim Meet Escrow (seasonal): $50

In order to participate, athletes must be registered and payments received before they can start swimming.MISCELLANEOUS:
This is not a Learn-To-Swim Program. Participation is open to a variety of skill levels and training interests, but a base level of proficiency is expected. We do quite a bit of medley training, so it is assumed that you are able to swim at least 200 yards of a stroke other than freestyle. If you have any questions about your ability to participate, we recommend that you call and set up a private evaluation.
FCA is not responsible for personal belongings. Please bring a lock to secure your possessions (MONEY, CLOTHING, BIKE STUFF, BAGS, etc). If you decide to use a locker while you are swimming, please use one that is unoccupied and do not leave a lock on it when you leave. If you do not have a lock, you are advised to bring your possessions onto the pool deck, all equipment and belongings must be taken with you when you leave.
Visitors who want to watch our practices are welcome to do so from the bleachers above the pool. Non-registered athletes are not allowed on deck.
The Shimada pool will be closed whenever Friends' Central School closes for weather-related reasons. In this event, a message will be posted on the FCA phone line (610-658-5632) and on the School website (www.friendscentral.org). In the event of an unforeseen pool closing, members will be contacted directly via email and/or phone.
All cars must park in the main school lot located off of City Avenue. DO NOT PARK ON OR AROUND THE "DROP OFF" CIRCLE IN THE MAIN LOT--it is a FIRE ZONE. Please do not use Lankenau Hospital's parking lots or their driveway for drop-offs or pick-ups.
