Iain Anderson

Iain Anderson:
FCA Head coach, Iain Anderson, has been coaching swimming for 15 years; he has taught swimming to all ages for over 20 years. He is the Aquatics Director at Friends' Central School where he coaches high school swimming and high school water polo. He has been an age group, collegiate, and master's swimmer. He holds a BA from Connecticut College, an MFA from NYU, and is a Level IV member of American Swim Coaches Association.
 

Jeremy Byrne

Jeremy Byrne:
Jeremy Byrne is the co-head Junior I coach for FCA and the Head coach for the FCA as well as a Middle School swimming and water polo coach for Friends' Central School. He is also the head coach of the Stony Lane Swim Club. Jeremy graduated from the University of South Dakota where he was a varsity swimmer. He is originally from Powell, Wyoming where he began swimming at the age of 10 for the Powell Swim Club. Formerly he was the head coach for the Siouxland Sharks (Sioux City, Iowa) and The Sheridan Swim Team (Sheridan, Wyoming). Jeremy is a member of ASCA and has a love for all levels of competitive swimming.

Ed Davis

Ed Davis:
Ed Davis is one of the Novice group head coaches. He has been with FCA since its inception, coaching the Novice group and teaching at FCA’s swim school. He also is the assistant coach for the FCS high school water polo and swim teams. Ed is the Aquatics Director of Friends' Central's Trailblazer Day Camp and a physical education teacher at Merion Elementary School. Ed is a member of ASCA.
 

Sara DeSabato

Sara DeSabato:
Sara DeSabato has been a Junior I coach since 2006. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a BA in English & Creative Writing, and received her M.A. in English from Arcadia University in 2008. She swam in college, captaining the team as a senior and leading them to an undefeated season. Sara graduated from Friends' Central School in 2002 where she was part of the inaugural varsity swim team. She is currently a first grade teacher at Friends Select School.
 

Theo Leriotis

Theo Leriotis :
Theo Leriotis is an Assistant Age Group Coach for FCA. He graduated from Bucknell University in 2008, where he was a varsity swimmer for all four years, and graduated with a B.S. in Biology. He also has a Masters in Biomedical Sciences at Midwestern University in 2009. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Theo swam competitively for the Jewish Community Sailfish. Theo has managed, taught and coached swimming at Westmoreland Country Club. He is currently in medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and while with FCA, he would love to see everyone succeed and master swimming at every level through hard work and dedication.
 

Joe Madres

Joe Madres:
Joe Madres is an assistant coach for the Novice group at FCA. He is also an assistant coach of the Friends’ Central School high school swim team. Joe began his competitive swimming experience at the Covered Bridge Swim Club in his hometown in New Jersey where he was a lifeguard and swim coach for six years. He went on to become head coach at the Haven Beach Club for two years. Joe received a B.A. in Fine Art from Colgate University in 2008 and an M.F.A from Pratt Institute in 2010. He loves coaching and looks forward to helping his swimmers work hard and succeed.
 

Colleen McGrath

Colleen McGrath:
Colleen McGrath is a Junior I assistant coach for FCA. She graduated from Binghamton University where she was a Division I swimmer for four years. She is originally from Long Island, New York where she swam competitively for Team Suffolk-Half Hollow Hills. Prior to FCA, Colleen coached at both the high school and USA levels in Hauppauge, NY. She has her Masters in Education from the University of Pennsylvania and teaches history at Mastery Charter School - Shoemaker Campus in Philadelphia. Colleen is looking forward to another exciting season with the Junior I swimmers at FCA.
 

Heather Petrie

Heather Petrie:
Heather Petrie is an assistant coach for the Novice squad. She has worked with FCA for 6 years and is also the general manager of the FCA Swim School program. Before she came to FCA, Heather taught swimming at the Main Line YMCA and swam competitively for Upper Darby High School. She believes in providing a fun and challenging atmosphere, one where swimmers can challenge themselves, learn about commitment, and evolve. She is a Level II ASCA member.
 

Adam Schvom

Adam Schvome:
Adam Schvom is an assistant coach for Team Phoenix . He graduated from Drexel University in June 2008 with a B.S. in Materials Engineering. Adam has been teaching swimming for the past 7 years at Friends' Central, both at the Trailblazer summer camp and FCA Swim School program. Before joining FCA, he was a lifeguard and swim instructor at the Main Line YMCA. When not coaching at FCA, he is a Quality Engineer for Johnson and Johnson. Adam loves to coach and wants to help the swimmers succeed through hard work and commitment. He is a member of the ASCA.

Kerry Sherin

Kerry Sherin:
Kerry Sherin is the co-head coach for the Junior I squad. Kerry has been teaching and coaching in the Delaware County area for over 25 years and she has been with FCA since the summer of 2003. Kerry is a swim parent as well as a coach (two of her sons swam for FCA and one went one to become a nationally ranked breaststroker at West Chester University). Kerry has taught/coached swimming at the JCC Kaiserman, the Suburban Swim Center, and the Valley Forge Military Academy. Kerry has a B.S. in Music Education from West Chester University and plays professionally with a string quartet and Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra. Kerry is also a member of the ASCA.

Kat Shinoda

Kat Shinoda:
Kat Shinoda is Team Phoenix coach and an assistant Jr.II coach. She is a graduate of Drexel University with a B.S. in Sport Management and a minor in Coaching Leadership. Kat was also a collegiate swimmer and a four year varsity swimmer at Westtown School. Before coming to FCA, Kat coached at the Waterview Swim Club and the Westtown Piranhas in West Chester, PA. She has a strong passion for teaching athletes and believes that energy on the deck can increase energy in the pool. Kat is a member of ASCA.

Beth Tedesco

Beth Tedesco:
Beth Tedesco Beth Tedesco is a Novice group coach. She has been a physical education teacher at Friends' Central School for 16 years where she coaches multiple sports including Middle School swimming. Beth holds a Masters degree in Exercise Science from Smith College and is a member of ASCA.
 

Marty Tomnes

Marty Tomes:
Marty Tomes is the assistant head coach for FCA and head coach for the Jr.II group. Coach Tomes graduated from Ohio State University where he was a varsity swimmer all four years and was a Top 8 finisher in the Big Ten conference three out of his four years. Marty has swum at the senior national level for many years and in 2008 attended the Olympic Trials representing FCA, where he swam the 100 Fly. He coached club and high school swimming in Ohio before moving to Philadelphia in 2006. Coach Tomes loves working with swimmers--challenging them and helping them lean how to discover success through hard work and dedication. Marty is also a Level II ASCA member.
 

Heather Wolkom

Heather Wolkom:
Heather Wolkom is an assistant Junior II coach for FCA. She graduated from Kutztown University where she was a 4-year, 4-time All-American Division II swimmer. Heather is from Rumson, New Jersey where she swam for the Monmouth Barracudas. Before coming to FCA, Heather coached swimming at the Sea Bright Beach Club in NJ and at Kutztown University. She graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a concentration in Athletic Coaching. Heather has a true passion for the sport and looks forward to helping all swimmers succeed through hard work and dedication.
 

Amy Young

Amy Young:
Amy Young is a coach for Team Phoenix. She graduated from Valparaiso University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and was a varsity swimmer all four years, where her primary events were breaststroke, butterfly, and the individual medley. Before she came to FCA, she was head coach for the Beachcomber Swim Club. Amy has lifeguarded and taught swim lessons for all age levels for many years. She hopes to see swimmers begin to understand the concepts of self-discipline, self-motivation, and self-respect through the challenging sport of swimming.
 

Pam Zbrzeznj

Pam Zbrzeznj:
Pam Zbrzeznj is one of the head Novice coaches. She is a graduate of Abington Friends School and Randolph-Macon College where she swam for all four years. She has taught swimming for 16 years and coached in Charleston, South Carolina. Pam has her masters in teaching from The Citadel and presently teaches 5th grade at the Woodlynde School in Strafford. She is excited and looking forward to a great swim season!
